I can't comment on Commonwealth Bank as we haven't used them. We're using HSBC at the moment and haven't had any serious problems. The only drawbacks to HSBC are that they don't have many branches so if you're not happy banking over the phone or internet they're probably not for you (Commonwealth Bank seem to have branches everywhere) and there are some places that won't accept their EFTPOS card.

Hope this helps,

Pete

..unfortunately just opened an a/c with these guys. Can't say I am overly impressed. We are just going to use them to pay the money in from the transfer then open an ING a/c in Aus and another day to day a/c not sure which yet. Citibank open online and I wish we had used them.

An online account with Citibank, Ing etc has to be used in conjunction with an account at a 'bricks and mortar' bank such as the Commonwealth. You have your pay etc paid into the latter account and can transfer backwards and forwards to the former. FWIW I've dealt with the Commonwealth for many years and 'touch wood' haven't had any problems. As has been said HSBC could be better for all I know but they don't have many branches which is an important consideration.
