Default Comet Bay versus Safety Bay...

Comet Bay College or Safety Bay High School - does anyone know anything about either of these schools, good or bad. I need to decide which one to send my son to and it's difficult to decide when you're new to the area. Any comments would be gratefully received...

Have you and your son been to them and had a tour? Just because random strangers on a forum say yay or nay doesn't mean it's right or wrong for your son. A highly recommended school could be totally wrong for him and visa versa.

To get a vague impression there is myschool.com Not a fan of such info myself, there are too many individual variables for my liking but other people find it useful.

Good luck.

As far as I know you have to be in the catchment of one or the other to get a place without being " cough " untruthful.
Although he could qualify for SBH with the football academy.
Comet Bay had the highest yr9 results of all Rockingham H.S. 2012

depends how much stock you place in some of these results , both mine went to Warnbro ( lowest result yr 9 Rockingham H.S.) and both have gone on to University.

We've been to both - neither one offered to show us around & as we weren't actually living in the area at the time we didn't push it.
I totally understand you comment about suiting the individual, but it's also good to get general feedback from others for a broader picture sometimes I think.

Thanks - We're in the catchment for Comet Bay, but he loves soccer so Safety bay has a pull. Nice to hear yours have gone on to Uni - it's so different here to the UK system, quite a shock for us...

You may struggle to get into the Soccer Acadamy at this time, if you live in Secret Harbour then Safety Bay will probably be reluctant to take anyone from outside the area (unless as prev said you can enrol in specialist programme). If the school of your choice does turn you down because you are not in the catchment area, insist they put in writing their reasons for saying no. If you are unhappy with the decision you can then contact the WA Dept of Ed and try pushing it - no guarantee that it would work, but worth a try.
