Default colourbond v Tiles

Our existing roof is a leaking piece of **** and needs to be replaced, we live in a old workers cottage in Petersham Sydney. I have placed an order with a roofer for a colourbond roof but am now having second thoughts! Our roof at the moment has pressed metal tiles with an old slate roof underneath which also needs to be removed:curse:

So what do you think Colourbond or tiles??

Depends on the style of house and what would look good. We have colourbond and I was worried about noise. However it has insulation and it's great.

when we were building, at first we were a little disappointed that we had to have colourbond as that was one of the covenants, but now we wouldn't have anything else.

Yes, definitely go with colourbond if it suits the house.

A tin roof on a house that wasn't meant to have one does look a bit weird. Any neighbours got them? As long as it won't look out of place, go for it.

I would go for tiles, personally. When the sun heats up our roof it "pings" when it expands. Same as when it contracts in the evening as it cools off.

Beware of hail damage on tiles - I've seen it. Ceilings/floors/furniture soaked.

Colorbond is much more resilient.

We have colourbond and really wish we had stuck with our initial view that tiled was better. Tiled is quieter, cooler and just as resilient in hail as colourbond. Why do you think colourbond have to advertise constantly. Have you ever seen tiles advertised?

Mike.

Personally I would go tiled. We have colourbond at the mo and when it rains it is horrendously noisy. Also when crows decided to have a walk up and down the night can be fun too

If it's noisy it needs insulating - we have an Anticon blanket under the Colorbond then normal insulation over the ceiling.

Hail storms are not uncommon. Cars get damaged as well if not undercover.
