Question Coff's Harbour - Big Bananas

Has anyone visited or lived in Coff's Harbour NSW?Is there anything there apart from Big Bananas? It looks a fantastic place to live!!

Looked at and visited Adelaide, and although the City Centre , North Adelaide ,Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills are really nice, it seems to lack something, and I think that for me it was the beaches (not that Adelaide actually lack beaches but they were a bit dissapointing).

.................................................. ........................................
This forum needs a spell checker, I initially put in BIG BANNAS and not BIG BANANAS.

By the way what is this Ozzy fasination with big fruits and sea creatures (BIG LOBSTER)

It jsut gos to show that our mind reads what we whnt it to sea, and you really don't need to spel to be understd

Apparently, that aggressive Aussie actor bloke has a place in Coff's harbour. Is his name Russell Crowe? Or does he qualify as a Big Narna?

Plus, heard the bananas are rather starchy better to buy the small 'lunch box' variety.

Yep, we've been there. I got food poisoning.
Coffs itself didn't appeal that much. A bit characterless with the Pacific Highway jamming up the middle. Lots of smaller towns nearby which were much nicer. Really liked Bellingen - inland - about 25 mins drive. We were very tempted to try to settle there but decided it was just too far from an interesting larger place. Maybe when we really get into the retired thing.
We spent ages trawling weather statistics to find the best climate and Coffs came out top. Mind you, it just about got cut off by floods just after we arrived last Feb.
Have you got any definite plans?

Lesley

No definite plans, but Perth too far away from anything else (although fab beaches), Adelaide didn't seem to have the wow factor. Although Sydney sounds tempting we don't think we want to live in such a big City and Melbourne is too cold.

We have our visas now with first initial visit completed so we really can go anywhere we choose, and Coff's Harbour does look very interesting from what we have read and seen on the internet with fantastic beaches, relatively cheap housing, mountains in the background, and an airport with flights to Sydney and Brisbane if you really need to get to a city.

You seem to have been through the same exercise as us, and reached the same conclusions.

The countryside behind Coffs was really good - hills, farmland and rainforest. You could choose your weather by changing elevation.

We've opted for somewhere closer to Brisbane for starters. Still rural and the stamp duty is less on houses in Qld!

I think it is because where we live it is not crowded (Northumberland), is very green and has lots of hills and fantastic beaches (but it is bl***y cold for 6 months of the year.)
