The cockatoos were going mental outside our house yesterday so we got a few pics. These are my favourites.

I love them, I still run out of the house to have a look whenever I hear them. The noise freaked out my own bird yesterday, he even stopped eating his breakfast, so he must have been spooked.

That noisy then, is it only when they are in a 'gang' that they make lots of noise?

No, they screech when they're flying on their own... bloody noisy but lovely.

Re: Cockies
Don't feed them or encourage them. They'll destroy your house bit by bit.
You've been warned, our place was torn apart by the destructive bastards less than 2 months after we built it
The only good Sulphur Crested Cockie is a dead one.
Their beaks are so powerful they can physically tear the tin off of your roof and rip apart hardwood verandas & they love to do it just for fun. I keep meaning to post the piccies of the damage I'll just charge the camera batteries and sort it.

They never come onto the house or verandah, we have enough trees round about to keep them happy. (Far enough away from the house to provide a firebreak ) The crows are the only birds that attack the house and car and they're a protected species so we can't do anything about them.

Blooming cockies.
I was out walking once with my bf (out near Melb airport) and this darn bird was flying from tree to tree throwing pine cones down at me (no kidding!) I think it would have followed me home if it could! I don't know what I did to make it hate me so but I guess I should count myself lucky that all it could carry in its beak were pine cones or it could have got a bit messy
