Funnily enough we were discussing that today. The fact that Hamish was a 5 for a while in an unusual position doesn't bode well........

The SSTs in the northern Coral Sea are plenty high enough. The high to the south (on that model anyway) is typical of an emerging autumn pattern and could well save the day due to the wind shear it brings with it. (rips cyclones to bits)

Let's hope so

If Hamish going away can cause the weather we've had the last couple of days, I'm not sure I want one coming towards me

It's a long way off yet and anything can happen. These models can really only be relied on for a few days out.

and NO we don't want another one

BOM have now identified Tropical Low 1 in the Coral Sea. Will it become the brother of Hamish, Jasper?

There's at least one more out there too, brooding and mulling over which way to move. My money is on us getting Jasper AND Kirrily before the end of the season.........
