The SSTs in the northern Coral Sea are plenty high enough. The high to the south (on that model anyway) is typical of an emerging autumn pattern and could well save the day due to the wind shear it brings with it. (rips cyclones to bits)

BOM have now identified Tropical Low 1 in the Coral Sea. Will it become the brother of Hamish, Jasper?

There's at least one more out there too, brooding and mulling over which way to move. My money is on us getting Jasper AND Kirrily before the end of the season.........

Current low still near stationary off the coast and its still unclear which way its likely to move............. is it a bad omen that its Larry's anniversary today?
