Where in Oz does one buy clothes that are not designer price or Lowes quality?
The Mrs reckons I am starting to look worn out. I just hate shopping. |

Leave the cast offs to Vinnies thanks.
There is a new shopping centre up at Bondi and the place is just full of designer labels. Hopefully the sales in the surf shops might turn up something. |
What are you looking for Bondi? I find Myers (Grace Brothers) quite often have not a bad range of casual stuff & some of their stores have a good range of business shirts etc, but if you are looking for surfwear then Im plum out of ideas.

Back in the UK I (well mainly the Mrs)used to walk into Next and out in no time with 6 months work gear. |
Shoes, not sure what you like or are after, but have you tried Colorado? Or Rivers? If you want more business style stuff theres a Floorsheim shop in the city somewhere that Dagboy was in raptures over.
I dont know what Next sell, so its a bit hard for me to compare. |
Originally posted by bondipom Just good quality basics that aren't made of polyester. Myers (Grace Bros are no more) are OK but not a single pair of shoes that I liked in my budget. Back in the UK I (well mainly the Mrs)used to walk into Next and out in no time with 6 months work gear. Jane:) |
Whats wrong with the Op shops ??? :D :D

Have you tried DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) out at homebush. they have heaps of shops there all under one roof. I'm sure you would find something there.

If you want Italian designer shoes, you should fly up to Brisbane this weekend. Mrs D, that should pay for your trip to the UK.....:D |

BP, DJs have a sale on at the moment, at least 30% off selected menswear. Or as someone suggested, try the discount outlets. |

There was some good stuff on sale in the Blazer section at Myers and got a couple of shirts and trousers for $270 total. That and a PSU was all the shopping I could take.

Some how we need to arrange the opening of a Next or M &S - surely we could do this between us??!! Wouldn't it be great!
We like M & S undies - its gonna be a long wait until we visit an M & S again! Mrs Dagboy, does Myers match up with M & S do you think? Dawn |

Dawn I'm not sure about now but M&S used to run a big franchise operation. That's how come stores turnd up in Crete, Thailand and loads of other places. I believe it costs a fair bit though and you have to merchandise to M&S regs. If anyone's wedged up, I'll have a word with them and find out the deal. I was shocked about Next etc refusing overseas shipping. What's the problem, customs law or what? Surely it's just a case of bunging a package in the post. |
www.redoute.com will ship to Aus. This is the French site which you have to use for ordering but the English site www.redoute.co.uk can be used to browse. Good range and M&S quality, but much more style and cheaper. Stuff in their sales are really cheap.

All I say is stock up before you come out. A lot of it is just finding the right places but the Next sale was incredible. An everyday work wardrobe could be bought very cheaply.

An everyday work wardrobe could be bought very cheaply. Dont know what you're into but maybe try - Just Jeans, Jeans West or Colarado for everyday shirts, trousers, shorts etc?? I found them pretty affordable and about as similar to shops back home as I could get. Didnt mind the clothes in OZ, but they are different to what's over here. |
Originally posted by MrsDagboy Oh christ, please dont tell Dagboy, I already have trouble getting past his side of the bed because the shoe racks in the cupboard is full of his shoes & they have spilled out & are now being housed under the bed as well. I trip over them everytime I have to get to the bedroom door  . Dagboy sounds like my other half. He can never have too many shoes and ties :scared: I am sure the ties will take up a whole suitcase:eek: |
Next and Gap and M & S ... I soooo miss them and I did stock up before we left but the kids grow so fast

I find there are good shops.
eg. for good jeans go to Jeans west. For good quality trousers, (non Denim) casual go to RM Williams. They do some moleskin/drill cotton trousers. They are also cut well (straight), none of this baggy designer crap. Rivers a possibility. For day in and day out. Kmart, Target. Business dress :I will miss the cutaway collars of the likes of London tailors, and M& S, John Lewis. Got to have a cutaway collar!! I will just find something over here, or get my family to post some over. BM |

Won't be cheap but you should find something with a good fabric more suited to the Australian climate. The wool probably came from Australia, processed in Milan and sent back. |

Their kids stuff is really nice too. I havnt spent much time shopping yet but my first impressions of ladies clothes shops are that they remind me of New Look! |
