The closest you left it, to validate

Hey people,
As we are getting a little worried about validating now, we were wondering when is the latest people have left it to validate, as it looks as if ours will be by the skin of our teeth. :scared:

alan, ny husband was initially supposed to validate 3rd july 2003, his son then advised us he was getting married at end of august. we contacted dimia and he was given a three month extension on the phone and confirmed by email, with the proviso that if he did'nt validate by 3rd october he would have to re apply (think this was for police check as medical was valid for a year)
anyway, we came out in the september arriving on the 27th.
good luck
karen

I just got back from Oz yesterday morning. Had to validate by the 17th Feb.
I left England on the 27th Jan, although was risking it a bit as I travelled standby but managed to get there and back with no hitches and it was a wonderful feeling walking out of Brisbane Airport knowing that we were now validated.
Just need to sell the house now so that we can get back out there for good...
Good Luck!!

Irrespective of what other people have done - don't leave validating to the last minute.

It is a seriously bad idea to do so. All you need is some last minute problem then to prevent you travelling and you are in a total mess with your visa that will require urgent professional assistance (from an agent competent in this area - not all are). And even that might not save your visas.

Dicko can you not get any members of your family to sell the house for you, so you can get out there in good time? or is it a case of needing the money from the sale? im sure it wont be too long to wait.

Good luck mate.

Yeh we need the money to pay a few debts off here so we can make a fresh start, over in Oz, and dont like the idea of making payments to english accounts while we are over there.
But things may start to look up towards the spring and I think we are going to book returns for end of April, and if we dont use the return wont we be happy. :D

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hiya Dicko
We might be in the same boat as you... that is if the validation date goes from the medical date. We are about to lodge bond, with Andrew being diabetic we have been told unofficially that we only have 6 months to validate. If that really is the case we will have to validate just a few weeks after visa is issued to make the 6 months. I hope that we have been misinformed about validation time and get a year, hopefully by then the house will have sold. Best wishes
Sarah

Sarah,
You will have to validate, by exactly 12 months to the date of your meds or police clearances whichever is the earlier.

E.G. we had our Medicals on June 11th 2004 & and our police clearance certifcate was issued May 10th 2004 hence our "initial entry" must be before May 10th 2005.

Hope this clarifies.
Thanks for all the best wishes, and good luck.

Some people with medical "issues" only have 6 months to validate from the date of the medical.
