Climbing the careers ladder in Oz, how easy is it?
Hi
I have a question. My OH has a job offer with a large company in Brisbane, a good job and very good salary but not a managment position like he has now. He is currently doing very well within the company he works for, also a very large company. We are due to move to Oz this summer BUT he has just been offered a massive promotion, dilemma!!!!. My question is how easy is it for us Brits moving to Oz to carry on scaling that career ladder. Its not a financial dilemma more a job satisfaction thing for my OH.
If anyone has any experiences of this kind of thing, please pass it on.
Its not that I want to sound at all negative but do Brits get the same breaks or is there more a leaning toward making sure Ozzies get first shout, I would understand why that may happen, seems fare. But don't want my hard working OH to miss out on the job of his life if he won't get the same kind of breaks over there.
There are other things to consider I know, but this question had to be asked.
Cheers

This was something me and my other half researched a couple of years ago at the start of our process. It would seem that there isn't much difference. Australia is a very multicultural, cosmopolitan country. I think you're just as likely to find that your bosses will be from some far flung land as well!
Mrs F has just secured a job with QLD health. Apparently 40 Ozzies applied for the same job - we're not even in the country yet! Says something I guess! HTH!

Hi
Thanks for the reply, I think that I should really have know that they are forward thinking people as OH's job was also offerd after only a telephone interview. The decisions is made now and we're happy with it, so no lking back at what if's and full ahead with a life in OZ.
