Clearance charges???

Hi,

Can someone tell me the handling/clearing and all inclusive charges to clear a 25 cubic meter container from melbourne port? I guess no taxes for a PR holder.
Need to get a rough idea bfr i ship my goods.

It varies. It's hard to estimate, too. The fees depend on whether AQIS decide anything needs to be fumigated/destroyed, etc.

Ours was about $300 if I remember right, but nothing had to be destroyed. I don't even think they looked at any of our stuff to be honest.

They wouldn't care if you're a PR holder or not, it doesn't enter into their decisions.

Well, they gave you the wrong info then! It's about $300 plus fees for anything that might need cleaning/destroying.

You can look the fees up on the AQIS website: there is a set tariff.

Our removal company had the set fee already included in their charges. We then paid $60 to have a hedge trimmer cleaned a bit more by AQIS.

Rubbish. The only way you'd get a fee like that is if you had a mountain of stuff that needed fumigating or destroying.
