Cleaning tools for Shipping/customs
 

Any tradies ( i'm a tiler ) that have shipped tools over - how clean did you have to make them ? I'm aware of soil/dirt on shoes and bikes etc but what about cement and other general stuff that makes tools dirty . What are customs checking for specifically ?

I brought all my gear Dave, jet washed the boxes & the cutters, wiped any bits that may rust with light oil & packed it into boxes. If you have any oily grimy stuff & your wife goes out shopping bung it in the dishwasher, it's fantastic for cleaning small bits & pieces, then just spray with WD40;)
AQIS aren't bothered about a bit of cement or adhesive they worry about soil contamination & sawdust:cool:

We got told towipe everything down with strong disinfectant as well, just so ,if anything was opened then customs would be able to smell the items have been cleaned.
