Question Cleaning mountainbike prior to shipping - advice please!

OK, shippers are coming on Wednesday so we're on the last big push getting stuff sorted and cleaned...

Now I know that soil is a big no-no as far as AQIS is concerned, but just how clean does a bike need to be?

I've cleaned the bike frame and tyres so it's soil free and disinfected with Jeyes fluid, but I've still got ingrained grease and dust on the spokes, plus grease/dust on the chainset and gears.

Anyone know what the charges are for either cleaning or destruction?

I'm in two minds now whether to take the bike - £300 non suspension bike, chances are if I need a bike it'll be before the shipping arrives from the UK.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome!

Cheers!

You can clean the oily crappy bits like spokes, and gears, hubs, etc with engine-degreaser - the stuff you can buy in halfords , spray on as a foam from an aerosol , let it sit, spray off

that will get the bike shiny - just remember to "re-grease" it before you ride it!

do it somewhere safe like next doors garden so you dont ruin yours
