clarkson primary school

hello does anyone have a child enrolled here. my son is in year 1. every week scince he started in feb he has been bullied, the school says bullying does not exsist, his teacher has called him a liar. in the uk he was doing really well in school and enjoyed going, he has now asked to go to another school and he seems to be going backwards with his work.
Can anyone give me advice on how to deal with the school, and is there a light at the end of the tunnel

cheers becky

Clarkson school has a very mixed lot of kids that go there. There are a lot of kids from lower socio economic backgrounds who attend, as you've probably seen. They therefore bring all of the problems to school that are created in those sorts of climates.

I have had experience of the school and have enormous respect for a lot of the teachers employed there. They are very committed to doing a great job for the kids.

For any teacher to call your son a liar is out of order. And to deny there is any bullying in the school, well, they are basically deluded.

Whilst I do think the teaching there is good, would I choose to send my kids there? No chance. If I were you, I'd be moving my son to another school. Why don't you try Tapping school? It's a brand new school due to open in January.

Thats horrible...poor little fellow :(

Cant believe a teacher called him a liar! Confront this teacher about it then go straight to see the head and tell him/her straight how it is and that your not willing to let this go on any longer.

Hi Becky

Maryann wasn't bullied or anything like that but she just didn't settle at Currambine Primary. We moved her to Carramar when we moved house and she is thriving. On the same basis, maybe a change might just give him the right environment?

It's something to think about. now i can drive it is more of an option. I know that when he goes to year 2 i can ask that hes not in the same class as the bully as he has made some good friends, and he will have a new teacher who is'nt a chocolate teapot

just been to see the principle. I'm now sat here in tears, I know that my son is not perfect, but he's the victim and I've been made to feel useless. they have said send him to clarkson south. When i said i would remove him from the school unless the bullying stopped , I was told no other school can take michael. I should have sat there talking to brick wall. what options are there. I was bullied at school and have the physical scars to prove it, I wouldn't want any child to have to go through school feelin scared and lonely but nothing will change unless the schools realise that they need to help.
sorry if this has turned into a rant, but I put Michael into the schools care for 6 hours a day and they are responsible for that chillds wellfare ie; to protect them

Hiya Becky,

I feel so sorry for you. NO mother wants their kids to go thru that and u are quite within your rights to try and put a stop to it. Ring the Department of Education first thing tomorrow morning and explain to them your situation. Just curious, why did they say no other school would take your son ?

Im not sure what the rules are in Perth, but here in NSW, if u send your child to a public school, they HAVE to go to the one for their district. However, people get around this all the time by saying they work in another district, or the child is being minded before or after school by someone living in another district. However, u have to provide an address of this person to prove they live in the same area as the school u want them to go to. Becky you have followed the correct procedure in seeing the school and they have been no assistance to you whatsoever. Now u need to take it higher by going to the Dept of Education.
