Default Claiming Tax duty at airport

Hello All

I'm flying back to the UK from Perth on Sunday and have bought a camera a couple of weeks ago. Any idea how I claim the tax back at the airport?

After going through passpost control / security look out for the TRS - Tourist Refund Scheme. Present your camera, and the tax invoice showing more than $300 along with passport / boarding pass. That's it.

Does anyone know if the camera has to be in the original box with all contents etc.

The original question is no longer valid I've just had a phone call off emmirates as I'm typeing to tell me my flights cancelled.

This isn't correct. You only need to present the item and receipt. You don't need the box and manuals. I know this from personal experience claiming the GST back on a mobile phone.

Also, be aware that if you claim back the GST and the item is over your personal allowance, you're required to declare it if you bring it back into Australia.

Cheers
