Question Citizenship-Twelve Months In The Two Years

Dear Sir/Madam,

In citizenship requirements they say that you have been living in Australia for 2 years including 12 months in the two years immediately before applying?

What does they mean by 12 months in 2 years immediately before applying? Can a person make a short trip 14 days approx. overseas at the completion of 22 months inside Australia????

Please comment and suggest

Thanks,

Stick your details in the citizenship calculator in the link. That'll tell you.

Thanks,
It means that you have to accumulate two years of time spent in Australia, of which 12 months is consecutive before applying for citizenship.

It means that to qualify for citizenship, you need to have resided in Australia for 730 days in the last 5 years. Out of these 730 days, 365 of these days need to have been in the last 2 years.

Yes you can travel overseas after 22 months continuous months in Oz. It would just mean that you are delaying your eligibility for citizenship by the number of days you are overseas.

we have had two month long trips overseas in the last 26 months and have now met our residency requirements.

As long as notch up 12 months in the last 24, and another 12 months in the 3 years prior to that period, you are OK. The 12 months do not have to be consecutive

Thanks,

You've asked this question numerous times before, so this thread is now being closed. Get professional advice if it's so important, eg try http://www.rilc.org.au if you're in Melbourne.
