Default Citizenship Interview - What do they ask?

Hi all,

My wife and I have our citizenship interview tomorrow in Dandenong (Vic). Has anyone had one recently or aware of the kind of questions they ask you? What do we need to know?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
65KK

1) How many runs did the Australian side achieve in the 2004 Ashes tour?

2) How fast can you drive over the limit before you get nicked?

3) How ridiculous do you think our lettuce prices are?

4) Have you mastered the "Aussie Wave" yet?

5) Are you completely prepared to have half of your brain removed and a meat pie inserted?

6) How good are you at doing donuts now?

It's a simple interview honest. Just know your rights and responsibilities and that's it.

sent you k for that Tracey

I think they should ask "do you want to live here or are you just getting this so you can bugger off back to the UK but keep your options open?"

That would be an excellent question, but how many would answer it truthfully? Perhaps provisional citizenship should be granted and rescinded if the applicant doesn't live in Australia for a further x number of years.

In our case they asked for our passports, our driving licences, our marriage certificate (and in Mrs Wol's case adoption papers), to verify our address and finally a cheque for around $3, being the cost of photocopying the above!

Oh, they also asked if we knew the rights and responsibilities. We said "yes", which turned out, fortunately, to be the right answer <g>.

Thats why there are changing it from 2 years to 4 years all the people who bugger off after 2 years have stuffed it up for the rest but the Australian goverment have got it spot on by making it 4 years now stops all the wanabe citizens.

If you really want to make Australia your home then an extra 2 years is not a problem.

There used to be a law like that. It was repealed in 1958.

Permanent resident status is effectively "provisional citizenship".

Just couldn't be arsed to live here for two years just to turn around and go back, if you don't want to live here why do you want the citizinship in the first place?
