will it be after 2 years or 4? Source: http://www.citizenship.gov.au/ So yes, you'll need to be here for 2 years before applying. You can however sit the test at any time (even before you're eligible to apply). When I went in, the man told me he has people coming in to sit the test who aren't actually eligible to apply for citizenship for 4 years!! Ruth |

The cutoff was July 1st. When did you actually take up residence here?

Date they took up residence is irrelevant - they validated their visas before 1 July which is what counts.
My Wife is a German Citizen who doesn't want to give up her German Citizenship (German Dual Nationality Laws) - my Daughter is a British Citizen although born in Germany. Can you advise? |

What if one parent wants to become a Citizen when eligible and the other one doesn't? Do any children still automatically become Citizens if only one parent takes it?

Only one parent (not both) needs to become a citizen in order for children under 16 to be eligible for citizenship.
Has your wife looked into getting permission to keep her German citizenship? ( Beibehaltungsgenehmigung) eg http://www.germany.info/relaunch/inf...uergerung.html |
