Ah well, the question is what kind of work, and what you disposable income will be after paying for rent/mortgage etc.

There will generally be more jobs in the larger cities by virtue of their size. But then again there will be more people after them.
It depends on trade as others said too. As an example, I am an accountant and would find it easier to get a job in Sydney as an immigrant because many multi-national companies have bases there. The same goes for Melbourne to a lesser extent.
But I have worked in the energy sector so WA is strong for me.

In a regional area there will be fewer job vacancies - however, there will be fewer Australians 'chasing' those jobs, so if one does come up, a newcomer has more chance of a look-in.

International companies are more likely to be familiar with UK qualifications and work experience.
Jeremy
