Christmas weather......
Just a heads-up for Queenslanders......
Ex Tropical Cyclone Laurence has become a broad rain band extending from the NT to Victoria and is moving east across the interior of the continent This rain band is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the SW of Queensland over the next 24-48hrs, extending into Nth NSW by Saturday evening. The heaviest falls are expected to be along the Qld/NSW border over the next 2-3 days. Showers and isolated storms likely in the south east corner of Queensland. A second Low system may develop over the next few days and bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the area between Fraser Island and Mackay from Sunday 27th through to about Wednesday. Possibility of localised flash flooding. If I get any more updates I'll let you know.......get your umbrellas out. |
Re: Christmas weather......
Erm, that's not what I requested, now go back, change all that to what I asked for please. Jeez some people just can't do their jobs right
Thanks for the info Poll, even if it's not what I want to hear. I look forward to the proper info later. |
Re: Christmas weather......
Oh dear, that's not sounding good for you southerners:(

:fingerscrossed: Hope it is not too bad for you all! Pen, the worst of the rain "should" be inland :fingerscrossed:, though I think you'll get some shower/storm activity. |
Re: Christmas weather......
Heavy rain to begin with, cleared up and warm and bright enough for me to get in the pool. Great meal but too much cloud for a sunset. Never mind, can't have it all. Lovely temp all day so all good .

The remains of cyclone Laurence seem to be breaking up which is good, but there are now showers drifting onshore for Brisbane/Gold Coast - could be the start of the heavier stuff expected at the weekend. The rain left from Laurence seems to be going further south, not good news for bits of NSW which have been flooded several times in recent months :frown: |
Re: Christmas weather......
I had plans to get some golf in..... Not stopped raining long enough:lol:

Re: Christmas weather......
So we've been at Lake Macquarie, NSW, since 23rd. It's been pouring down since 24th. The cottage we rented is allegedly absolute waterfront and we can swim straight from the garden, but most of the time we can't even see the lake.
Nothing to do but eat, drink, read, watch DVDs and, um, amuse ourselves. God it's awful. |
Re: Christmas weather......
The weather in Sydney is far from being perfect. It has been raining for many days now. The temperatures are cold for summer. The summer does not look like a real summer.
In my dictionary, summer should be summer, sun and no rain. I think the summer in southern Europe is a real summer. Rome and Athens are a good example. Cheers |

Cheers I worked with a British lady last year who was horrified to find summer in Queensland involved hot, wet summers with thunderstorms on the majority of days. All I could say was "didn't you check out the climate before you moved?" |

All I could say was "didn't you check out the climate before you moved?" The closer you get to the equator, the less relevant becomes the four season paradigm. The Australian aboriginal culture, location dependent, recognised many different seasons. Us europeans came here and tried to simplify it all into 4 seasons...no idea.
