Christmas trees
 

Hi,
I'm on a roll with threads now! :p
Good fake Christmas trees, are they horribly expensive in Australia.
We have 2 here and don't know wether to bring them or not.
1 is a 6 foot pretty good fake really and the other is a 6 foot fibre optic, mainly for the kids really!

Don't you think it's a bit weird to have fake pine trees in your lounge in the middle of the Australian summer?! I'd say leave both, buy yourself a new BBQ instead! Embrace the new life!

Bah Humbug!!! So what is wrong with having a fake tree in the lounge. If it keeps the kids happy, why not. Obviously you're not someone that embraces the spirit of Christmas. Get with it.

Yolandacharm, at least consider the fibre optic one as they are up around $150-200 mark.

If your packing a container why wouldnt you bring them. Saves buying new ones ??

Christmas without a tree? the kids would never forgive!
We are hopefully trying to bring as little as possible, eg, photos, paintings and vinyls oh and of course hubbies tools!

Er, the spirit of Christmas? Don't you mean the spirit of Argos?
Christmas in Australia is not about snowmen and robins and fir trees!
Nothing wrong with having a fake tree if that is what xmas means to you - OP asked for opinions/ideas, I gave mine!

For us Christmas is all about Jesus, but the kids as much as they know this and love celebrating Jesus's birthday love the tree, for them its part of the whole package, I personally don't cope with the super over commercialised Xmas, and we prefer to remember why we have it!
The phrase, "He is the reason for the season" is what it is all about for us. :D

Good on you is all I can say (seriously). There were people complaining about the lack of materialism in Australia but this is not the point at all - I suppose...

I bought a 50buck fake tree from Kmart 2 years ago. It does the job great and looks better than any tree I had when I was a kid.

We got one at k-mart at the weekend. Don't know anyone that doesn't put up a xmas tree here. It's actually a very good fake and cost $100.

They had plenty of all different sizes and colours, and even a very strange line in "upside-down" trees... :confused:

Trees aren't too expensive here. We are going to buy our 1st artificial tree - always had a real one in UK

Good think we will leave ours here, will reduce the volume of packaging.

We are still going for a real one! They sell them here in perth with the promise of no needle drop etc

I used to fall for that one every year. Until about five years ago when I finally accepted that there is no such thing as a "no needle drop" tree and bought a fake one. :D
