Can anyone help

We have started to buy our Christmas presents nice and early as we know we are going to have to send them quite early to England to get there in time. We were advised to send them by sea as it will work out much cheaper, does anyone know of a good company to use to send them and when we will have to send them?????

The last date for Seamail was back in September ! I posted late last year and spent a fortune on postage by airmail.

Yes thats right sea mail was September last posting!! To post it all by airmail is HUGE amounts of money!! I sent something back to my mates little girl the other had spent about $30 on the present and the postage was slightly less than the cost of the present and it wasnt that big or that heavy!!

We weighed up sending stuff over and some people we have said we are now just doing cards and no presents, but still send presents on birthdays (we think that is a more important date!!) and others where we have to send we will be buying online from UK stores and sending it direct to them!!

It works out that it costs less if you shop smart!!

we only got here in september so christmas presents wasnt on our list of priorities then - looks like we will be paying a lot and sending it by air

mite be cheaper to consider a courier service rather than the post office....sometimes it can work out cheaper, just depends on what you are sending.

I sent a parcel today by airmail, which weighed just under 1.8kg's - the cost was $53.

I just sent everything together to my MIL's so it probably worked out cheaper than sending everything to seperate addresses. I hope she has a santa outfit

Last Xmas we paid a fortune for shipping presents over to our relations.This year the adults are going to get cards.My sister is going to buy my presents for my nephew and niece over there and then "forge" my name on the gift tag.I'm going to do the same for my kids from her.

Christmas was the last thing on our minds when we first arrived in OZ, so we gave the present thing a miss last year, to those back in the UK.
Then we found out you have to send them by ship as early as September, so instead i bought a load of presents, wrapped them and left them in UK when we went for a visit....much cheaper ( well almost).

I was the same last year - it cost me nearly $600 to post it all back !!!!!!!!!

I have a great sister who I send a cheque to and she buys the presents for my mum and dad and I write the gift tags out and send them to her to put on the parcels, my nephews and nieces are all older now and prefer the money.

bloody hell mate, that's a stinking fortune! We don't send presents now only to kids which there are only 2 back in the UK. Not spending money buying and posting presents for adults that can afford their own stuff. Bah humbug

We don't send or receive presents from the UK- it's just not worth it - OH usually ends up with socks and I get handkerchiefs from my Grandad
Instead we put money into the kids accounts and they do the same for ours -then after Christmas my kids get the chance to choose stuff that Santa didn't get them

We have a number of neices and nephews in UK and Ireland Last year we wanted to send back naff Australiana as treats for all . Needless to say we are over that now Much more reasonable $ 54 to send all by sea.
