The 'Carols by Candlelight' held in many parks etc here, with families enjoying picnics with friends & a great sing-song afterwards, are IMO quite magical.

That is one of the great things about Christmas here.

Another thing that most Australians twigged to some decades ago was that you don't need to spend untold hours sweating in a hot kitchen to produce great quantities of food that is usually more suited to Northern Hemisphere Christmases. Keep it simple and let people be and enjoy themselves.

That doesn't stop the family frictions that occur anyways :-)

Ahhh I forgot about Carols by Candle light, Now that one thing that Australia certainly excells in. Strolling down to Coburg lake, couple bottles of wine, meeting the neighbours and freinds, Singing along to a few popsongs, they even have carols. !! Daryl braithwaite one year, BABA (aka abba clones) another, My favourite though was the first one I went too, The Chantoozies, complete with Tottie Goldsmith, Ali fowler, and the other one, I was well impressed that year.

She was aptly named that Tottie
