Choosing a Super Fund

My employer is allowing me to choose a Fund for my Super as it is a new company and I am the first employee. He will then pay my super into that account.

I have no idea where to start in choosing the best fund - my intention is to return to the UK at some point so will want to access the money when I leave.

Can anyone point me the right direction.

Thanks

I have just gone thru this process, looking for a super fund, so I can rollover the funds I already have. I am going for Perpertual, because of their performance. A lot depends on your circumstances, how much is going in etc. If the amounts are relatively small you might want to look at REST, ave. returns but fees are cheap.

Take Care With Charges

Hi,
If you are in New Zealand take care with super funds as many your first 2 years contributions can go in setting up commision, and you will also be taxed at 33% on the fund.
National Bank here seem to be very fair with their set up charges.Considering rates of return investing in property could end up a better route depending on your circumstances.Worth a look prehaps. With Regards.

Thanks

I'll have a look at Perpetual then as a starter. I'm in Sydney so hoepfully the NZ issue doesn't apply.

Thanks for your help

Re: Choosing a Super Fund

Do you have a 457-employer sponsored temporary visa or a permanent residency visa? I ask this as you can only obtain a refund of your super fund (after a tax deduction) if you have been in Australia temporarily.

Best regards.

Currently on a WHV going through business sponsorship to a 457. I think that means I can still claim the funds back, although heavily taxed of course
