Chippies in Brisbane?

Hi guys!
As some of you know, we are hoping to go to Brisbane possibly Jan.
A wee question, simply coz I can't find it in the thousands of posts!
When we arrive, what will hubby have to do, so he can work? Also, are there any recruitment agencies suitable for him that we could possibly contact now?
We have our details on Seek etc.
Does he have to register with people to work, or does he need to do some sort of exam? any advice on this would be appreciated, or even pointing us in the right thread direction.
Thanks again!

heres hoping we get our visa soon! :)

Hi , he'll probably need a blue card, you seem to need a blue card for the majority of jobs here. :) Karen.x

That's the construction industry blue card it requires a half day health & safety course followed by a short exam loads of places run the courses for approx $100 bucks. Don't confuse it with the blue card needed to work with children it's the same shade of blue but a completely different card  QLD govt. you gotta love em.

Brill! thanks,
will he have to re-register as a carpenter and joiner, or will the blue card cover him for everything?

Armed with a blue card he can work on building sites as a chippie, however most builders require blokes to be licenced. That's a lengthy process in some cases as chippies usually have to undergo some form of training to gain a licence.
All the info can be found on the link in the post above.
