Default Child benefit and medical records?

Got a couple of questions. Firstly when do i tell the child benefit people we are moving to oz? Shall i do it now even though we are not leaving the uk for another 8 weeks and when do i have to request copies of the medical records?

Im only going to get my 4 year olds as me and OH have been generally quite healthy.

Cheers.

Sorry ive forgot about the search ive found it

You should still get your medical records - it sort of proves that you are fit for future medical insurance etc. Better to have it than not when so far away.
We sent off our request to the practice nurse on Monday - for us leaving Monday week.

I wrote to the child benefit department about 4 weeks ago (we leave in two weeks) and got a letter back today just stating the last date we'll get paid (which happens to be the same week we leave).

For our medical records we got them for all three of us. Its not just about how ill you've been but also how healthy you are - it works both ways. I would def recommend getting them. Ours cost £70 for the 3 of us but it'll be less if you havent been to the docs much - probably about £15 each. They had it ready for us to collect within a few days.

We were quite lucky then, we had a print out for all 5 of us summarising our history including immunisations and cost us nothing.

Yes very lucky. Ours was a complete photo copy of our entire records (a summary would probably have sufficed but the buggers didn't off that option!!)

Don't worry too much about getting your medical records. You don't register with a specific doctor over here, and they just don't seem interested in your previous records. Over here they don't keep them in the same way - each doctor records what he/she does, but there is no passing of records between GPs, and you can see a different GP each time if you want to.
