Hi

Yes Australia does have a form of child benifit payed as a tax reduction, I guess the amount must depend on your earnings and number of childern.

Hope this goes some way to answering you question

The link from tiredwithtwins, has most of the answers, and the rates you get are determined by income, and the number, and ages, of children.

As a guide, a family with one child, under 13, and only one income of about $45k will get $60 per week benefit direct into your bank account, paid fortnightly. If that income goes above $103,332 then no benefit is payable.

The benefit can be paid annually at the end of the year, through a tax rebate if you prefer.

It's the same rate thoughout the country.

I was advised that it is payable on arrival, providing a PR visa is in issue
