Default Cheques acceptable?

Hi all,

Quick question - When I submitted my prospective spouse visa app, I enclosed a cheque for the Fee (In England - sent to Australia House London).

Just a bit worried that they may not accept cheques. I know, I should have checked.

Anyone know what the crack is with regards to paying relevant fees?

Yep - they do accept cheques. We had to send ours to Adelaide and they sent back a receipt soon afterwards.

i do not think they will accept a personal cheque, i would ring them and give a credit card over the phone.

Yes, you have to send a bank draft or in our case an international bank draft.

A pounds sterling denominated cheque is acceptable payment at the London AHC.

They accepted a cheque from my personal halifax account without any problems. Just wanted Name & address on the back and your reference/tracking number.

that settles it then, they do accept them even though the forms say they dont.

much like the rest of their service, the right hand does'nt know what the left hand is doing.

You are correct WBB.

VISA & CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION CHARGES - LONDON

All clients lodging an application in London must make their payment in POUNDS STERLING. The London office CANNOT accept EUROS or Australia Dollars.

Charges can be paid by credit/debit card, bankers draft and postal orders. Personal and business cheques are NOT accepted. Bankers drafts and postal orders must be made payable to the AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION and you must write your full name, address and contract telephone number on the reverse.

Please refer to Form 990i for a list of current visa application charges in Australian Dollars. You must use the currency converter to determine the appropriate visa application charge in Pounds Sterling.

I will see what I can find for the ASPC as I believe the payment options are different there.

The above is subject to change.

See http://www.australia.org.uk/vti/html/feelist.html
