OK.....searching this massive database of knowledge on Oz....who can assist in this:

I have a quote from Hertz for car hire (Toyota Camry) oicking up from Sydney airport for 3 weeks at circa £550 (AS$1265 @2.3)

Is there a much cheaper way for similar size car (need room for 2 adults, 3 kids plus luggage)..........do Easycar.com exist down there !!!!!

I guess a cheaper way may be to rent from outside the airport with a smaller company than Hertz.....

Unless of course anyone on here has a car they don't need for 3 weeks next April ????

Good advice sort all round please........any hidden costs I should know about or sharks to avoid (the land based ones that is).

PS.....sounds like best flight deal I can get is Emirates, round trip LGW to SYD
for my family is £2658 including all taxes.........I think this is a belter.

No idea on car hire i'm afraid - but have just tried www.ebookers.com and they are quoting 2 adults and 3 children - Emirates £2353 OR BA/Quantas £2558. Flying heathrow to Sydney 8-29 April 2005.

It's worth shopping around !!
