Default Cheap and nasty uPVC Windows Australia and the enviroment

I was reading today that uPVC windows are really bad for the enviroment
(and property values) and six of the 15 most dangerous pollutants,as
outlined by various European governments. the report also mentioned that
thay are very difficult to recycle
Makes you wonder why companies in Perth are attempting to mass inporting this rubbish into Australia
:curse:

There're very popular in the UK and do retain heat so to lessen their impact on the environent.
Personally hate single glazed windows as allow in too much noise and need repainting every few years.

I think your windows will be around well past are generation sitting
in landfill till the end of time
Australians are a bit more concerned about the planet than your average pom

And you can have double glazed windows made of natural products
Wood

You can get hard wood double glazed windows which are coated in long lasting paint. More expensive but better for the environment and better looking. In our last house we had double glazed sash windows. So you do not need to sacrifice comfort for style or environmental considerations.

Incidentally, I worked for a large Council Housing Dept who stopped fitting UPV windows as they worked out less cost effective than wooden double glazed windows as if there is a problem the whole window generally needs replacing, whereas wooden windows can usually be repaired.
