Changes to Jetski & Recreational Boat Licences in Qld
I found all this a bit confusing so just in case someone is as confused as I was:
After speaking to Queensland Transport here are the new rules as of the 1st of July 2005:
To obtain a Recreational Marine Driver Licence (RMDL) you'll have to:
Be over 16 and pass an eyesight test.
Complete a BoatSafe Training and Assessment course, which typically lasts 10 - 12 hours run over one day (costs $115 - $130)
Jetski users will need an additional Personal Watercraft Licence (PWCL) for which you will have to:
Be over 16 and pass an eyesight test. (again?)
Hold a valid RMDL.
And until 31/12/2005:
- Pass a written test at a Queensland Transport office getting 100% in section A and 80% in section B.
After 1/1/2006:
- Complete a specific BoatSafe personal watercraft course.
Cheers
