centrelink question for spouse

Hello,I have a question relating to centerlink payments. My partner is currently one yr into his spouse/defacto visa,he is currently only on the temp visa.

My question is when the visa becomes permanet is he entitled to any help from centrelink.I am on disability pension and he is currently on a uk pension.I am going to be contacting centrelink but due to the floods and cyclone here is qld its very hard to get in contact with them, and id like to keep the lines open for the floods and cylone victims.I am really after some kind of information for the future. thanks for your time.....

There's loads of help and advice on their website and you could always nip into an office, they're generally quite helpful although what they say now, could be completely different from what they can say in a years time. Don't worry about it for now. He should be, depending on salary etc.

hello, thanks for your quick reply.I am just on centrelink now having a look some if it is confusing lol.But yeah we are in no rush at this stage. What u said about salary,we both dont earn as we are each on pensions,so do u think that would help as there would be no earnings or income test.

thanks once again :)

Thanks - but there's more than one kind of spouse visa.

To clarify, is your spouse on the temp subclass 461 ? If you are, then joint family benefits are assessed on the lead applicant's visa and your spouse will probably be entitled to individual health benefits.

He is on the Temporary Spouse visa, which leads to PR after 2 years. Its not the 461 NZ-related visa.
