Centerlink registration ??
 

Hi Friends,

A friend of mine just landed in Oz. He is on a 138 visa. The guys there were not sure of what registration he needs. They told him, as he has got a job and does not need one, he need not do anything.

I am wondering what is this "REGISTER WITH CENTERLINK ON ARRIVAL" thing. Is is necessary or compulsion ? Do we by complusion need to register for a job ??

I am going next week.

Any help ??

There is no compulsory need to register with Centrelink.
If you are seeking benefits for children or something like that, then you will need to, but otherwise you needn't go near them at all. many people are here for years, have nothing to do with Centrelink and never visit them.

thats good to hear.

but as there is an assurance of support lodged as part of his visa application process, will they know that he has arived and the two year waiting period has started for him for bond release as well as benefits. Sorry for this silly question.
