case officers
Hi all
Phoned DIMIA yesterday and asked who our case officer was.
To our dismay we haven't been assigned to anyone yet, we applied in April 03.
Apparently it is taking up to 10 months before you get a case officer.
Roll on 2004!!!!!!
We will get there.
Cheers

Re: case officers
We also applied at the beginning of April this year (skilled independent) and are yet to receive our request for meds/police.
It's so disappointing each day when the postie brings our mail and there's no correspondence from DIMIA! Still, have to try and be patient but I keep thinking what if they have sent the requests and it has been lost in the post? should we make contact with the DIMIA like yourselves or just play the waiting game? I need to send a change of address form and think I will put a note in asking what the situation is, then again, I keep thinking that if I hassle them they will put our application to the bottom of the pile!!
Looks like the wait goes on.

That's strange. I applied at end of June and got mine at the beginning of this month. They told me there was a backlog in June which had now been cleared, so things were now beginning to speed up. Mine was spouse, so maybe things are different for the other classes.

Sorry to say this guys but it may be bad luck due to the time of year you applied. Because they rush lots of visas out to reach their deadline of the end of June, applications that have just gone in just before this date seem to be left to simmer for a bit.
It should pick up a bit now they have had a few months of doing nothing again!
Keep positive and just get everything ready so you can leave as soon as the you get the visas. The worst thing seems to be selling a house, so get it on the market now if you want to leave quickly!! Also consider getting your meds and Police checks done and send them off. Only do this if you can leave within a year or you will get a very short leaving date.
Best of luck.
