Default Carpenter Licensing in Queensland

Hi any carpenters out there who have got their BSA license in Queensland? I have just arrived from the UK rang them today and they said that the VETASSESS certificate issued during the migration process needed to be transfered to an Australian qualification and that this takes 3 months? Sounds a bit odd as how are you suppose to work until this comes in? I was under the impression that the Vetassess cert would be recognised when I arrived?

Any info or advice on certification, licences etc. needed to get started much appreciated.

You don't need a licence to work, you just need one to work for yourself. If you work for wages while you wait for your licence you'll be able to get some work inspected when you need to. Three months sounds quick, it took me over seven
