Be careful!

Be careful!
Well, we were due to exchange contracts on our house sale today only to be told it was going to be delayed until tomorrow. That was until this afternoon when we found out the whole chain has collapsed. Bugger or other similar words (and tears) have flowed freely this afternoon. Can't believe it's happened a second time.
We are now running out of time and will have to book a holiday to validate. I am just so glad we hadn't booked our flights and paid for them and that my husband hadn't handed in his notice. Just a warning to others, be careful it does happen (twice!).
A sad and fed up Loopy.

Oh dear, that's awful. I think we'll be in a similar situation when the time comes and you just can't take risks cutting so close to the wire.
I hope you manage to sort it out.

Re: Be careful!
I know exactly how you feel. We have been waiting to exchange on our house for over 3 months. It is by far the most stressful thing I have ever been through. Apprently moving house is in the top 4 most stressful life events, I think berevement being the top. So bare this in mind. I too am very pleased that we have not made any definate plans, because it is looking incresingly likely that we will not be able to fly to Perth when we wanted. I havent even resigned from work, as will not do this until we have exchanged. I have to give a months notice, but hoped to give more because I work as a Drug and Alcohol Advisor and didnt want to leave the job with no one to replace me. This also looks increasingly unlikely. So all I can say is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you can not see it. Hoping all works out for you, and contact if you want to down load.

We're just about to put our's on the market and I'm dreading the same type of thing happening.
Just think, when you do get to Oz you're going to have such a strong character that nothing will phase you!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Trying to stay positive and willing to try anything to salvage a bad situation. People buying our shack are still interested so they just have to sell theirs as quick as poss, all considering price reductions to quicken the process.
I just wish we'd put our house on the market sooner rather than later, we could have gone into rented accommodation and we'd have been in Perth by now whinging that it's too hot!

We are so sorry for you, When do you have to validate your visa's?
We have taken a big risk booking flights etc and getting removals booked, but you know loopy I just don't care anymore, I am being very positive, we will get to Australia, we have booked a one way flight on 27th May, and if the house is still going through or not, then we can book return flights from Oz. We have gone through a long process, so chin up and keep being positive.

So sorry Loopy. What an awful thing to happen.
We too are waiting to sell, visas since August need to be validated by May.Looks like we'll be having an expensive holiday to validate.Mrs B's given her notice in anyway-fed up with getting crappy tasks since her employers found out we're DEFINATELY going.
Do you get a bit miffed over all these "sold my house in 2 minutes" threads?
Still,we should take hope from the other thread on today where an impossible to sell house has sold.
We've taken to telling ourselves that we'e got one of those expensive houses that never go quickly-we wish!
Chins up (no offence),it'll make your marriage stronger, look on the bright side etc.etc.& other patronising poo
BB-who'd live in a house like this ?

Re: Be careful!
Thanks Baldbutts - sickening isn't it! Sounds as though you're in a similar situation although we're lower down the market in a three bed semi (very nice one, 100ft south facing garden, separate home office- anyone interested?????).
We're currently looking at flights etc over Easter to go and validate but it's going to cost a bit for the four of us, but better than losing the visas! I gave my job up too so I could do the packing etc ooops!
Next option is to lower our price as things are so slow round here at the moment, although it means we won't be mortgage free in Oz, but to be honest we've just had enough now and want to be off. Is that an option for you and yours?
Anyway, good luck with your house sale too - keep us posted!
P.S. How did you know about my chins??????????????

Sorry things have gone bottoms up for you. We are currently wondering what to do when the time comes for us. Thanks for the advice on moving into rented, have to give that some serious thought after hearing of what could happen.
Keep positive, at least you will be able to sort things out nicely in Oz when you go and validate in April.
You might find the rental property of your dreams.
Best of luck.
