Default Care folks... - new virus/worm

I expect to see around 3 messages a week in my inbox carrying a virus. Today alone,- so far there have been 5. It is a pretty respectable front end to this one as below so please watch out. If Symantec are right it would be a nightmare to clean out. I reckon 35,000 intercepts as suggested in the articles doesn't even start to cover the true scale.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3123726.stm

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/[email protected]

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/sec...9116520,00.htm

Please all, remember Microsoft NEVER send patches by unsolicited mail. Use your Auto-update\Windows update. This one will be a bigger pest than the nasty ones earlier this month. I guess this virus/worm is inevitably going to cause some of the regular posters to go off line for a while.

Hope I haven't confused anyone with the image. Please all; - that image is the html message you get in your inbox WITH the virus attached.

There may be some message variations based on "undeliverables" . If you see that message OR get any odd attachments please delete (and empty from the deleted folder)..

The patches from Microsoft and your anti virus software vendor will provide some protection in the case of receiving the message but will most likely not stop it arriving in your inbox.

you are both welcome. Glad to help..

Yeah I have already had two of the microsoft security updates in my inbox today.I deleted them straight away.
As you say microsoft never send patches by mail.
I had a quick look on www.pchell.com to see if there was any warnings on there ...but so far nothing.

I haven't had any, but my email is with Telstra who have such good security it even blocks sensible messages at times! I also have the latest Norton/Symantec protection which has updated automatically 3 times this week and reckons I'm safe - so far, so good??
Now I know the messages are around I will keep watching.

I have had this message about 30 times over the last few days, since signing up to MSN messenger, is there anyway i can block all the other messages that keep coming through?

My talk 21 inbox keeps "going over the water mark" about every 2 hours or so since yesterday. So to those people who have there mails bounce back from me, it isn't cos i'm very popular, its cos i'm being bugged, big time
