My wife drives a Daihatsu Terios over here, and it's a great trouble free car. Definitely a car for the girls.
I have seen the new model has just been announced, and it does look good.

Dirt cheap to run and reliable. Fun to drive. Had to sell the last one as the baby capsule wouldnt fit if you wanted to drive the car too.
Daihatsu are no longer sold in Australia but Toyota should be able to supply parts.

" Daihatsu are no longer sold in Australia but Toyota should be able to supply parts."
Found this on http://www.carbroker.com.au/new_car_price_daihatsu.html
" There are Daihatsu dealerships located in Melbourne , Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart, Canberra (most suburbs) and regional Australia. Most dealers also deal some other make at the same dealer. Few dealers offer a worthwhile extended warranty for Daihatsu, however. "

Daihatsu values hit the wall
The Sun-Herald
Tuesday April 12 2005
If you want to sell a Daihatsu, be prepared for a shock now that the brand is closing its doors locally. Toby Hagon reports.
Daihatsu's announcement to stop selling the brand in Australia from March 31 next year will have a detrimental effect on the value of its vehicles, says independent car industry valuer Glass's Guide.
Santo Amoddio, managing director of the industry bible of used-car values, said the 79 existing dealers could expect demand to soften after the announcement of the company's local wind-down.
He also warned that the estimated 138,000 existing owners could expect their cars' value to drop as the brand is phased out. The good news for buyers is that they could easily pick up a bargain.
"When there's a pull-out from a manufacturer, people start to worry about after-sales service and all that sort of stuff," Amoddio said. "They think twice. So it will have a negative impact on resale values."
But brand custodian and Daihatsu majority owner Toyota stressed that it would provide back-up service and support with spare parts until at least 2016.

At the moment you can buy a Daihatsu, but when zbettyboop gets out there, they will have been phased out.
