Default car rental

Hello Guys,
we are looking at car rental, we want to pick a car up in brisbane and drop it off in melbourne for our holiday next year. there are so many companies to choose from, has any one got any tips, any one to stay away from or recomendations?

I always use avis, they have been the cheapest and the best.
Watch out for any companies who only let you have a certain amount of miles per day, it can be quite expensive if you go over the set amount.
