Used cars are more expensive in Aus. We paid $2,000 for a cortina mark 3! But their older cars are pretty much rust free remember, unlike the UK ones.

I'd be very careful checking for rust here too. Most of OZ population is situated around the coastline so rusty cars are a real problem here too. 4WD's that have been on beaches can be full of it, often bogged up. Pays to check out whatever you are buying. If you join the RACQ of your state (about $50.00) they do an all over pre purchase inspection, last one we had done was on a small car for a teen and it only cost $120.00. money well spent. Also if buying a private purchase you need to check it has a clear title or you are liable for the car loan debt of the previous owner!

Yeah right about sea salt , guys at work said to me when i started dont park your car close to the sea , as the salt will kill your car. So as i work right on the ocean front door its hard not to park car near the sea but i do try and hide it between others but somedays she is just covered in salt.

Hi all
I rented a Ford orion equivalent a couple of years ago.A new car.
I believe they are now made by Kia or another far eastern company.
Not a bad car though for a couple of weeks.
A lot of 'Fords' or 'Holdens' are made by far eastern subsidiaries of Ford or General motors.
Globalisation it's called.
