Car parking in Melbourne ( warning)
Hubby on a reccie in Melb, Picked up the hire car, checked it over for scratches and dents, ok, parked up outside the hostel at 9.30 pm to unload luggage. Asked the bloke on the desk "Am I ok to leave the car for the night"? Yeah sure, just move it before 10 am as they will tow it.
Hubby came out at 9 am and guess what ...... it had been towed. It cost him $300 dollars to get it back and there is a big dent on one side, which they said was already there. The moral of this story is, don't listen to people who don't know what the're talking about. Make sure you park in a car park.
Hubby was annoyed as he would have moved it if the bloke had said there could be a problem. You live and learn Lol x

Oh, sorry to hear that! Didn't realise he was here already. Where did Keith end up staying in the end? I remember he was wanting somewhere central but wanted to get a feel of places to live.

Sorry to hear he got towed, but I think the moral of the story is look for the signs! Melbourne is pretty well signed for where and when you can park somewhere.

Most carparks have a $7 overnight rate. We parked near in Wilson on southbank - but you must collect car before 6am. (we paid the $14 which was cheaper than the $30 valet parking charged by the hotel (Langham) which was okay as hotels go.
Now in Quest short term apartments in South Yarra - parking included and right below our apartment. No noise except the 2 year old playing horsey with grand dad

It's on the Nepean Hwy, looks OK it's not as pretty as the places near the sea being from Wigan would you remember the 'Belgrade Hotel' Chain? they had them in Bolton/Oldham/Bodmington ...a bit 70's council flats look on the outside but pretty good base. If he doesn't have a car the airport shuttle picks up right outside the door for his journey back to the airport.
or try wotif for a last minute deal http://www.wotif.com/Hotel.jsp?hotel...1&viewType=all
Good Luck.

Could you let me know what he thinks of Rutherglen as we are hoping to go there this time next year. Is he visiting any of the wineries?
