Car Insurance (TSV, QLD)
Hi,
What's the market for car insurance like?
We arrive in Townsville, QLD on the 7th Aug, and will be looking for a car soon after.
Any pointers, tips, suggestons, pro's/con's are appriciated.
Any comparison websites that are useful?
Cheers,

Suncorp have a whole heap of extras that would make the process of crashing a hell of a lot easier. Replacement car, back on road with a week etc etc.
Having said that, I've been very happy with my Budget Direct policy, even though the excess is $1,500 !
As the name suggests, Budget Direct is great if you are on a budget as the savings are huge. I'll always keep my 'nice' car with Suncorp though for peace of mind.

I'm happy for you using Suncorp for your nice car.
I too have 2 cars and both are insured by Budget Direct
I had a hit and run and was insured with Suncorp at the time - took me months to finally get them to act on the repair claim and then they only instructed the repairer to use second hand parts.
The car in question was only 14 months old.
I really don't trust any insurance company when it comes to claims.

We have allianz and it was really reasonable (compared to home), haven't had to use it thank god. We bought our car in a garage and they had a lady there who did admin and she got us a couple of quotes and we went with allianz. Was pretty straight forward but they did want a Oz drivers licence or a CRV (which is like a temporary one i think)
