Default Car Insurance Comparison sites

Hi there

Are there any insurance comparison sites like you get in the UK? Or do you have to trawl through all the companies and see what you can find?

I am not sure of any myself, but try www.realinsurance.com.au - we did and saved over 30% compared to the identical cover provided by AAMI.

The second one. I had to trawl as you say. There are only a handful of reputable ones so it shouldn't take too long. Some have online quotation systems. I tried NRMA, RACQ, Suncorp, Allianz, HSBC Australia (a bank), QBE and YOUI.

I considered switching from AAMI to one of the realinsurance policies, but decided to stay with AAMI to retain my lifetime NCD. My saving would have been about the 30% aswell.

I stick with AAMI too because they pay up if you have to claim with so little hassle its worth the slight extra premium.

Add ING to the list. Was the cheapest quote - and I went through the usual subjects. They give some 'options' for free that others charge for, such as monthly payments for no extra, I think one claim with no loss of no claims.

Hmm didn't try them. The monthly is a good option which HSBC offer. The NCD protection is available with some other insurers too.
