Car Insurance In Aus!

Hello

Can anybody give me any info on Aussie Car Insurance?

I'm a brit born aussie citizen and am returning to Aus next month (woo hoo).

I unfortunately had a car accident last month (great timing!!) and the insurance companies are currently battling it out as to who's at fault.

I was just wondering if I'm not found at fault if I can carry my No Claims Bonus across to Aus? Alternatively if I am found to be at fault if your UK history/record is held against you in Aus??

I have both a UK and Australian drivers licence if that makes any difference??

Any advice would be gratefully received!!....
:p

We arranged our insurance through AAMI and they accepted my no claims discount from the UK. All I needed was a letter from my UK insurer stating level of no claims I had and length of time I had held that for

Hi,

We signed up with RACV and got the full no claims. They didn't ask for proof. I assume they don't pay out if you have falsely claimed the full no-claims (i.e. they check your history if you have an accident).

They asked about all incidents in the last 5 years - I think. They only thing I had was a claim for a broken windscreen which they said was okay.

Regards
Alistair
