Hi everyone,
I am just wondering about car rentals. We'll be arriving at the beginning of May and will be there for about 3-4 weeks. If my husband finds a job while we are there we will end up staying (will have house sold before we come).
So my question is.... how much should I expect to rent a small SUV or 4x4 for 3 weeks. I've already looked and it ranges from about $1300 to $2000. Is this reasonable, or am I looking in the wrong places.
Our other option is to just buy a vehicle when we arrive. The only trick is if we end up coming back home then we'd have to try and sell it before we go, which seems silly if we're only there for about a month. So this doesn't seem like a good idea, although it would save us money on a rental if we did end up staying.
Any ideas??

We are renting for the first 3-5 weeks. Not sure how immediately cars are available if you buy new.
Your rental figures look about right. budget, europcar. thriffy, avis, hertz.. As usual check for longer term discounts, airport charges, insurance ( even extra doesn't cover tyres, screens, roof, underbody)
