Car hire recommendations please!
Does anyone have any personal recommendations for car hire in Brisbane. Looking for an average sized car for a family of 3 adults and 2 kids for a month.
Many thanks.

When I've searched for cars in Victoria, used www.yellowpages.com.au to find car hire companies. Here I've usually found thrifty to be the cheapest and once when they were a couple of dollars more they price matched. You can often wangle a better insurance deal out of them but do negotiate.
I think you can get RACV membership www.racv.com.au without a car of your own even from abroad. They list discounts with some of the bigger companies. Usually you can beat these deals but in high season it would be worth checking out.

Hiya,
Sorry i cannot help you, but i was just gonna post the same as you have! So will look forward to your replies
I have the understanding though, that it is cheaper to hire from UK, so this is what we are looking to do.
We want to hire a decent size car from brissie airport for around 3 weeks.
Hope all is going well with you plans

We used avis quite a bit and always had good service...we also found that we could bartar with them if we went into the shop to hire the car rather than booking over the phone...even if it was $10...our biggest saving was about $70 because we always asked for a small car and they only had big cars left.lol

We used Thrifty car hire. Very good value. Nice cars and you get discount book for various attractions. They have an office at Brisbane airport.

Try Opodo.co.uk Jackie. We've used them a few times for the states and they search for you and quote you the full price with all insurances so you know exactly what you have to pay.

I think I've used Eurpocar, Hertz and Thrifty in Brissy and all have been fine.
You may not know but you can hire cars from many petrol stations (servos). I think it is probably Thrifty who do this through Caltex in particular. Typical 'standard' hire cars should be around $50 a day or less.
