Car Credit
Has anybody had any success getting a car on Credit in Aus when they first arrive - ? The prospect of shelling out 10-20K £ in capital for a new car is alien to me.
I've seen lots ofposts about people and mortgages etc, do we fair any better in the car buying department? Ie if you wanted to turn up at a ford dealers for a 25K$ Car with a 10k$ deposit would you get past the door in your first month or so in the country?.
thanks for any advice & experiences...

Re: Car Credit
We had only been in Australia for 2 days when we bought a car. I was advised to only pay 50% cash and get the rest on credit which would kickstart me a credit history. We did this and found no problem getting a car. It will do you a big favour, too as getting credit cards and other finance services is easy after this. Dealers are usually happy to do a credit deal if you put minimum 50% down.

Re: Car Credit
Thanks!.
I'd planned on buying almost anything I could (within reason) on credit not to avoid paying but because it builds up a history - they love seeing lots and lots of history of payments.

This is only my personal experience, but i have found the Aussies cant wait to lend you money!!!...far far easier than UK. Whilst it is good in some respects...spendthrifts beware!! :scared: :scared:
