I think that Canberra actually has more to offer than anywhere else as you can flit to Melbourne or Sydney in a plane, go to a beach in a flit, can go walking, can ski, can go rowing, etc etc. Perhaps I should work for the 'move to canberra' campaign
Me too - I'll be your 2nd in command

Eh, what the hell are you on about. Sounds like its your head that is being done in. I think you're the one getting confused,

Everyone knows, even the Romans , that the town centre of Canberra is planned. End of story. As we're told, that doesn't mean the whole place is. It's not just a 'dull, concrete' jungle, as I know, and now a lot of people know, there are nice bits too, indeed acreage, bush walks too.

Simple enough for you?

I;ll make it even simpler, I A G R E E with you.

Doesn't everyone know that Canberra is dull, boring, grey and lifeless ??? lol

If everyone keeps praising it then it will become like Perth.....full of bloody Brits.....lol (just joking Perth)

Seriously though I am so glad to finally see a thread about Canberra that tells it like it is......this is a bloody marvellous place to live and I for one absolutely love it here

I can remember back in 03, when i first joined this forum, it seemed like i was the only one going to canberra. i used to have the 'canberra tourist board hat' on all the time. it's nice to see more people thinking of moving to here.

Canberra has its faults, that's for certain. but as someone else said on here, it's unique. i just fell in love with the place from day 1. when we moved out of the 'city' and bought our place in burra (40 mins from civic in the RUSH hour..!!) everything just clicked in to place.

For me canberra was just the next step in reaching my ideal, which is where we are now. i can't see myself moving from here let alone back to the UK!!

we wake up in the morning watching the sun rise over the tinderys and it still takes our breath away. the views are stunning on an average day!

canberra is on the doorstep to some of the most beautiful country i've seen yet. the nearest beaches are fantastic and EMPTY!!! yes that wasn't a typo, i did say EMPTY!! and if you like going bush, then you can literally walk from your back door and you're in it... ok not from every back door!

entertainment is there in abundance. you just need to know where to look, and for me that's the excitement of this place. i'm always finding or hear of great restaurants or places to visit that you wouldn't find by just heading for civic and walking around.

I've just read bill brysons down under, and i really enjoyed the section on canberra. i can see where he was coming from, but he did like someone else mentioned on here. they landed in the centre expecting to find canberra's best. canberra doesn't have a city centre... it has... erm... 5, 6, 7.. erm.. well a few! all offering something different... even fyshwick!!

anyway,.. i think i've babbled on enough.

come to canberra... where the streets are clean and you can buy pornography (as someone one the radio recently said!)

i rest my case.

Heck I can feel with warmth from here. At the moment I am sitting here with the heater on and my ugg boots are warming the feet. It is grey outside and has been raining through the night. Oh another wonderful day.

the day that i took that photo we had enough rain in 30 mins to completely fill all the dams to over flowing, and that was from bone dry! i don't know how much we had, but a couple of days ago we had 15mm over 3 hours and it didn't even leave a puddle! saying that the ground is a lot drying now so it just probably soaked it up!

see that was your mistake. Everybody in canberra goes away on long weekends - they were probably all at the coast

nevermind, nobody is saying it's everyone's cuppah. at least you paid us a visit before coming to that conclusion.
