Re: Canberra. How come...
I've got to take Mrs Wol to the John James hospital in Canberra on Monday and we're a bit concerned that the road round Lake George might be flooded - do you know of any sites that have information? The NSW RTA site is useless - it doesn't even know where Canberra is! for god's sake, it's only the capital!

The live desktop map looks pretty comprehensive http://livetraffic.rta.nsw.gov.au/desktop.html
Good luck to Mrs W at JJ (good place to be going to!)

Tried both this morning, but neither seem to have actual flood information on roads.

Thinking further about this if the road was flooded we would be sure to know - it being the major route out of here.

One thing I am missing by being in UK is seeing how high Lake George gets - if anyone has any pics of how full it is now, I'd love to see them. I've been through a couple of totally dry periods and a full to the brim period (they reckon that the new road could get flooded as it was built in a drought period and all the old timers tut tutted and predicted that the water would overtop it at some stage.

My husband almost got stranded in Canberra on Thursday night - his flight to Melbourne to catch the international flight got cancelled and I had visions of him being trapped there forever! He's home now thank goodness but he said he had never seen it so green in Feb and the garden looked like a jungle as the d-i-l hadnt been able to get on top of it (the kids are living in our house). He had some mail for me in his backpack and it was sodden - his pack had obviously been outside on Thursday night some time and the rain had seeped through even though it is a sturdy "waterproof" backpack.
Loving looking at the damcam at the Cotter - it's pretty impressive to see all that water!
