Canberra

Hi all,

some jobs in my field are being advertised in Canberra.

It just occured to me, I never see anyone saying they are going to Cenberra. I must admit I have never been.
Can anyone tell me whatit is like to live in?

Thanks very much

Have you searched the forum on Canberra? The question has been asked before.

Hi

We are off to Canberra and can't wait :-)

The less people know about it the better IMO :-)

What is your line of work ?? I am in IT and it is a challenge getting anywhere without a security clearance, which you cant get (normally) without citizenship............but nonetheless, the place has us hooked - and we have never been either....(but going on reccie over Easter)

Hiya, I'm in research. Do you mean it is hard getting around Canberra without security clearence?

No - I meant that a lot of the jobs in IT especially require a security clearance.........

Funny, there must be a "anyone in/going to Canberra?" question on here at least once a week.

There are a few people on here. I lived there myself for 6 months.

The most common question in Canberra on meeting someone for the first time is "where do you work?" - as in which government department.

As most jobs are in the public service there's usually a citizenship requirement before they even consider you. The small print on job ads in the Canberra Times (or wherever) usually states this. You might want to check before you proceed any further.

For someone who's never been there, your phonetic spelling was pretty close. Put a big show-your-teeth smile on your face and say Keeennnnnnnnn-bra and you're almost there... (for such a modern-feeling city it's surprisingly redneck, but mostly in a nice way).

Big.
